Who MOFLON is

MOFLON is a Chinese manufacturer of rotary transfer products: electrical slip rings, fibre optic rotary joints (FORJs), RF and waveguide rotary joints, and rotary unions for fluids. It is headquartered in Shenzhen and runs a second factory in Hai Duong Province, Vietnam. The company says it employs more than 1,000 people across a production base of 30,000 m², holds more than 10,000 slip ring design drawings and keeps over 2,000 standard models in stock for three to five day delivery.

For OEM engineers MOFLON is mainly known for its very wide catalogue. Few makers list as many off-the-shelf variants, from 5.9 mm miniature capsules to custom rings up to 2 m in diameter, and that breadth is often the reason it appears on a shortlist when a project needs a quick sample.

History and ownership

MOFLON’s own pages give two different starting points, so we report both as published:

  • The milestone page says MOFLON began in 1986 in the USA as a distributor and supplier of military and commercial slip ring assemblies, and set up a factory and assembly centre in Shenzhen in 1988.
  • The About page gives 1995 as the founding year and says the company has more than 30 years of experience.
  • Later undated milestones describe a reorganisation of the slip ring business across Hong Kong and mainland China, a move into OEM industrial slip rings, and a new assembly facility in Shenzhen.

The website trades as MOFLON Technology and also runs an industrial connector sub-brand called Anknor. It does not name a registered legal entity, parent company or shareholders, so we have not stated them. MOFLON says it is certified to ISO 9001 and that its standard and OEM slip rings comply with CE requirements.

Product portfolio

Our series records summarise the published figures for MOFLON’s most specified lines. Many per-model ratings, such as speed, IP rating and temperature, sit in individual datasheets rather than on the series pages, so treat any gaps as “ask the factory”, not as “not available”.

  • MC capsule slip rings: 22–25 mm capsule rings with gold-on-gold contacts, from 6 to 56 circuits at 2 A and 220 V. A smaller MMC miniature range goes down to 5.9 mm diameter.
  • MT through-bore slip rings: standard bores from 3 mm to 300 mm in the catalogue table (customisable to 800 mm), up to 144 circuits and up to 690 V depending on size, using fibre brush technology.
  • MW power slip rings: high-current rings from 10–40 A per ring in compact units up to 1,000 A on a single-ring model, at up to 690 V. MOFLON says custom designs reach 7,500 A.
  • ME Ethernet slip rings: one or two 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet channels mixed with power and signal circuits, with RJ45 or M12 connectors.
  • MB industrial bus slip rings: listed for EtherCAT, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, CC-Link, CANbus, DeviceNet, RS-422 and RS-485.
  • MFO fibre optic rotary joints: 1 to 24 channel FORJs with FC, SC, ST, SMA or LC connectors, plus hybrids carrying up to 200 electrical circuits.
  • GBT large through-bore slip rings: built to order with bores up to 2,000 mm.
  • GHS long-life slip rings: listed for speeds from 1 to 12,000 rpm.

Beyond these, MOFLON offers HD-SDI, USB, waterproof (IP65, IP68 optional), pancake, PCB-based, separated and servo-encoder slip rings, CT and wind turbine slip rings, military-grade units, mercury and wireless designs, high-frequency rotary joints up to 30 GHz, rotary unions and hydraulic swivels, cable and hose reels, and pan-tilt units.

Technologies and standards

MOFLON’s main technical claims are gold-on-gold and fibre brush contacts for low resistance and long life, channelled brushes in its power rings to cut contact pressure, and the integration of electrical, fibre, RF and fluid passages in one assembly. It states standard speeds of 250–600 rpm, with high-speed versions to 15,000 rpm on request, and gives a one-year warranty.

When you compare MOFLON parts with other brands, ask for the datasheet of the exact model: current per ring, voltage, speed, IP rating, temperature and life all vary by size. Our guides on how to specify a slip ring and Ethernet through slip rings cover the figures that matter.

Industries served

MOFLON’s product and industry pages point to factory automation and packaging, robotics, CCTV and pan-tilt systems, medical CT and imaging, wind turbines, radar and defence, and any machine that needs power, data or media through a rotating joint. See our pages on slip rings for robotics, CCTV and pan-tilt and medical imaging.

Global and UK presence

MOFLON lists factories in Shenzhen and Vietnam and regional offices in Germany (Berlin), the USA (St. Louis), the UK (London), Italy, South Africa, Israel, Singapore, Poland, Brazil, India, Australia, Turkey and South Korea. The UK office is at South Quay Plaza 2, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SH, with the email uk@moflon.com; no UK phone number is published. UK engineers can also deal directly with the Shenzhen sales and technical teams by email.

What to send when specifying a MOFLON slip ring

Give the number of circuits with current and voltage for each, any Ethernet, fieldbus, video or fibre channels, bore and outer diameter limits, speed, environment (temperature, IP rating, vibration), expected life, and any fluid passages. For a replacement, the full MOFLON part number is the quickest route.

Specify Motion is independent of MOFLON. Our engineers can help source MOFLON products or propose equivalents from our supply network on published figures; see find a replacement or the slip rings hub.
