Figures are the highest published for each series and are not always measured the same way. A higher figure is not automatically a better choice: mounting, duty cycle, feedback, connectors and approvals matter too. What a stainless planetary gearbox is

A stainless planetary gearbox is a planetary servo gearbox with a stainless steel housing, output shaft and fasteners, sealed for washdown and corrosive environments. Inside, the sun, planet and ring gear arrangement is the same as a standard planetary, but the seals, surface finish and lubricant are chosen for hygiene and cleaning. Food-grade lubricants are commonly used. Many designs also offer inline and right-angle versions to match stainless servo motors on hygienic machines.

When engineers choose a stainless planetary gearbox

Choose a stainless planetary when the gearbox will be exposed to washdown, cleaning chemicals or corrosion, such as food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical machines. A painted aluminium gearbox will corrode and trap residue. The trade-offs are cost, weight and lower range choice. Sealing adds friction and may reduce speed ratings. If the gearbox can sit in a protected or dry zone, a standard unit is cheaper.

How to specify the APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR

Send these with your enquiry and an engineer can confirm the right AE / AER / AES / AESR variant:

  • Ratio and output torque (:1, Nm)
  • Ingress protection (IP code)
  • Cleaning regime and chemicals
  • Food-grade lubricant requirement
  • Backlash (arcmin)
  • Motor interface
  • Inline or right-angle layout

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Pairing a stainless gearbox with a non-hygienic motor or coupling
  • Ignoring derating for sealed housings
  • Not checking lubricant approval for food zones
  • Leaving crevices at the mounting interface

APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR: frequently asked questions

Can you help replace APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR or source the original?

Send the full model code, quantity and required date. Our engineers can check original-part availability and assess suitable alternatives, including supply-network options where appropriate. We confirm compatibility and any changes needed before recommending a replacement.

What is the APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR?

Apex Dynamics helical planetary range in inline (AE) and right-angle (AER) forms. AES/AESR are the all-stainless body versions with food-grade grease for washdown and corrosive areas. Published series figures include speed 10,000 rpm, ratio 3:1, ratio 200:1. It is available through our supply network, and our engineers can confirm the right variant for your application.

Who makes the APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR?

The APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR is made by APEX Dynamics (APEX Dynamics, Inc.) available through our supply network. Send us your requirement for pricing, lead time, datasheets and CAD.

What is the speed of the APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR?

The published series maximum speed is 10,000 rpm. Individual models and sizes in the AE / AER / AES / AESR range vary, so check the exact variant against your duty cycle, mounting and environment, or ask our engineers to confirm the right size for you.

Is there an alternative to the APEX Dynamics AE / AER / AES / AESR?

We can assess suitable replacement options. On published figures, LeaderDrive LCD and LeaderDrive LCS / LCSG are options to assess from our supply network. An engineer confirms the fit against your application before recommending anything.

Why use a stainless planetary gearbox?

Stainless housings and sealed designs resist corrosion and allow direct washdown, which is necessary in food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants. They avoid painted surfaces that can chip and are designed with smoother surfaces. They also pair with stainless servo motors for hygienic drive trains.

Do stainless gearboxes use food-grade lubricants?

Many use lubricants rated for incidental food contact, such as NSF H1 grades, as standard or option. Check the lubricant specification and whether it suits the gearbox's speed and temperature range. Lubricant choice may affect rated life and service intervals.
