Festo electric actuator alternatives and replacement

Assess Festo electric cylinder and axis alternatives using the full configuration. Compare load, stroke, mounting, motor adaptation and controller requirements.

Pricing and availability

Send your current part number for a checked alternative

Need Festo parts, a replacement or a suitable alternative? Send us a part number, or tell us what the machine needs to do. Our UK engineers will come back with the right product, pricing, lead time and delivery, whether that is the original part, a checked alternative or a complete axis.

Specify what you need instead of Festo

Select every part you need and answer the questions an applications engineer would ask. Our engineers use your specification to come back with the right products, pricing and lead times. You see your summary before we ask for any details.

What are you specifying?

Select everything you need. A motor, drive and gearbox can be specified together as one axis.

In short:Start with the exact Festo configuration and the machine requirements. Original sourcing and a change to another system need different technical and commercial checks.

Define which part of the assembly is changing

A Festo electric-axis replacement may keep the existing motor, replace the complete actuator or change the motion package. State which route is acceptable and identify the exact actuator code and fitted accessories. Include the motor, drive, controller and sensors where they form part of the installation.

The catalogue includes ESBF cylinders and EGC screw and belt axes. These are different mechanical arrangements, so a generic force and stroke comparison cannot establish a direct replacement. The actual configuration and mounting drawing are essential.

Match the application, then the installation

For a rod cylinder, record force, stroke, mounting centres, rod end, speed and duty. For a rodless axis, add carriage loads and moments, guidance, orientation and mounting support. Describe contamination, washdown requirements and lubrication access.

A proposed alternative must be checked for both mechanical life and motor duty. A thrust rating, speed limit and stroke maximum published for a family may not apply simultaneously to the required model. Provide a timing chart so the force and speed requirements can be assessed at the points where they occur.

Pneumatic-to-electric projects need a separate specification

If the starting point is a pneumatic cylinder, explain why the machine is changing. Position flexibility, force control, energy use and cycle behaviour can each lead to a different electric arrangement. Air pressure and bore offer useful background, but they do not define the complete electric-axis selection.

Identify holding and stopping requirements, controls changes and installation space. Component supply does not automatically include machine programming, guarding or validation. Those project responsibilities should be stated explicitly.

Request original sourcing or another option

Send the full code, dimensions or drawing, load cycle, quantity and required date. Mark any fixed motor, controller or mounting arrangement. We can discuss original-part sourcing and alternative actuator packages through the supply network, including suitable Motion Control Products ranges.

Use the linear actuator calculator for preliminary relationships and the complete-axis service to define the quotation scope. An engineering review of the exact configuration remains necessary; no catalogue-level comparison here proves a Festo drop-in equivalent.

Festo replacement and alternative options from our supply network

Each row compares the highest published figures for the series. A match here is a starting point: an engineer confirms the fit for your load, duty, mounting and interface before recommending anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can you source the original Festo part?

Send the full model code, quantity and required date. We can investigate the sourcing route and confirm availability, supply condition and terms for the exact item.

Is a listed alternative a guaranteed equivalent?

No. Published series figures identify candidates for review. Exact model, installation, feedback, controller, firmware and mechanical fit must be checked before recommending a replacement.

Engineer support

Send us the part number you want to replace

Tell us the Festo model code and how it is used: load, speed, duty and environment. An experienced engineer will confirm the closest equivalent, normally within one working day.
