Start with the valve and the site
Remote irrigation automation combines a physical valve duty with power and operating constraints. A valve in an accessible pump house is a different enquiry from a distributed field installation. Record where the actuator operates, how often movement is required and what power and communications are available.
Our UK engineering team can help source an actuator or discuss a wider requirement involving control, power and documentation. We can obtain pricing and supply options without assuming that every site needs a connected platform or an AI layer.
Information needed for selection and sourcing
| Requirement | Useful information |
|---|---|
| Valve | Full reference, function and operating requirement |
| Site power | Available supply or the proposed battery and solar arrangement |
| Operation | Movement frequency, seasonal duty and required local access |
| Control | Local command, remote command and required feedback |
| Environment | Exposure, installation conditions and maintenance constraints |
| Supply | Quantities, timescale, mounting accessories and support scope |
Battery and solar options
Low-power actuation can be relevant where new electrical infrastructure is difficult. The engineering enquiry should consider the complete energy requirement, including standby loads, accessories and the operating schedule. A general product claim about battery operation does not establish endurance for a particular site.
Sensing, telemetry and AI-assisted scheduling
A soil-moisture or weather-based decision can sit above the valve controller, but the system still needs a reliable way to command and confirm movement. Define which sensors are included, how data reaches the controller and what happens if data or communications are unavailable. A telemetry roadmap is not the same as a released, integrated product.
RIFT’s published connected-infrastructure material describes irrigation and remote assets, while also distinguishing current functionality from development. Confirm the selected hardware and software scope before committing to a specification. A complete project should identify who integrates the control system and who supports each component.
RIFT ranges and existing-asset retrofits
Browse the RIFT actuator catalogue and review the specific model rather than applying every feature to the whole range. For an existing valve, supply the current actuator and mounting information and identify anything that cannot change. A replacement proposal should describe adapters, configuration and commissioning needs.
From requirement to delivery
Send the valve reference, site description, quantity and required date. We can help organise the technical questions and obtain a supply proposal covering the relevant products and support. If the requirement is incomplete, use the configurator and mark what remains unknown.
Send an irrigation sourcing enquiry, configure the application or read about water-asset valve automation.
