Who Conductix-Wampfler is
Conductix-Wampfler describes itself as a global leader in energy and data management systems for mobile industrial equipment. Its products move power and data to machines that travel or rotate: conductor rails, cable festoons, cable reels, slip rings, data transmission systems and charging solutions. It is part of the Delachaux Group.
On this site we cover only its slip rings and rotary joints. In that field Conductix-Wampfler is known for rugged, modular assemblies for cranes, cable reels and port equipment, Ethernet slip rings for automation, and explosion-proof units for mines and hazardous areas. Many of its cable reels carry its own USR slip rings inside.
History and ownership
Conductix-Wampfler’s company page traces its work in mobile electrification back to 1902. It says it has more than 80 years of experience in bulk material handling and over 50 years in stage technology, runs around 30 sites worldwide and is present in more than 50 countries through its own sales companies and over 55 authorised partners.
The company is part of the Delachaux Group, which signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2017. In September 2026 Conductix-Wampfler announced an agreement to sell its RollerTwist business to Setic & Pourtier. Its website does not give a single legal entity or a group headcount, so we have not stated them. In the UK, Companies House lists Conductix-Wampfler Ltd (01406477), incorporated in December 1978 and active, at 1 Michigan Avenue, Salford.

- USR30 Ethernet slip rings: up to three 100 Mbit/s or two 1 Gbit/s Ethernet lines through RJ45 sockets at up to 100 rpm.
- MiniEth slip rings: a compact single-line 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s Ethernet ring, suitable for Power over Ethernet.
- STAR explosion-proof slip rings: flameproof units for mines and tunnelling, ATEX marked I M2 Ex db I Mb, up to 800 A and 24 kV on specific models, IP65.
The range also includes the explosion-proof ARIETE and SXD series, the ES/GS modular series, FPS, Robin’6 R and V series, and customised designs.
Technologies and standards
Conductix-Wampfler uses brass power rings with copper-based brushes, silver- or gold-plated rings with silver brushes for signals and data up to 12 Mbit/s, and gold-wire contacts for higher data rates. Assemblies can integrate encoders, anti-condensation heaters, fluid rotary joints and fibre optic rotary joints. Note the speed ratings: most series are rated 10 to 100 rpm, which suits cranes, reels and turntables but not high-speed spindles.

Points to check when comparing Conductix-Wampfler slip rings
Most Conductix-Wampfler series are rated between 10 and 100 rpm, so confirm the real peak speed of your machine, including any fast slewing or reel spooling, before you choose a series. Check whether the published current is per pole or for the assembly, and how it derates above +30 °C on the CGR. For data, confirm the brush technology: silver brushes cover up to 12 Mbit/s, while gold-wire contacts are needed above that. On hazardous-area units, compare the exact Ex marking, group and category rather than the series name.

Built-in Industrial Ethernet slip ring carrying up to three 100 Mbit/s or two 1 Gbit/s real-time Ethernet lines through RJ45 sockets, at up to 100 rpm, with an optional 1/4 in air joint.
MiniEth slip rings
Compact single-line Ethernet slip ring for 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s with RJ45 sockets on both sides, up to 100 rpm, suitable for Power over Ethernet.
STAR explosion-proof slip rings
Flameproof slip ring assemblies for mines and tunnelling where flammable gas is present, ATEX marked I M2 Ex db I Mb, with currents up to 800 A, voltages up to 24 kV on specific models, IP65 and up to 100 rpm.
