Who Inovance is

Inovance is a Chinese industrial automation manufacturer whose European portfolio covers AC drives, servo drives and motors, PLCs and HMIs, motion controllers, CNC systems and industrial robots. It was founded in Shenzhen in 2003 and has since expanded into electric vehicle powertrains, intelligent robots and digital energy. Inovance reported an installed base of more than 17 million AC and servo drives worldwide as of 2020.

For machine builders, the most relevant part of the range is the SV600 servo family, with high-resolution absolute encoders and EtherCAT as standard on most models, backed by CODESYS motion controllers and a network of European sales companies.

History and ownership

Shenzhen Inovance Technology Co., Ltd. was founded on 10 April 2003 and listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on 28 September 2010, stock code 300124. Its listing documentation gives the registered office as the Inovance Headquarters Tower in the High-tech Industrial Park, Guanlan Street, Longhua New District, Shenzhen. The company reports operating revenue growth from RMB 3,660 million in 2016 to RMB 45,105 million in 2025.

Expansion has included acquisitions: Changchun Weton in 2011, Jiangsu Kingsway in 2015 (taking it into rail transit), PA in Germany in 2018, BST in 2019, EKSYS and MOOXEE in 2021 and SBC in South Korea in 2023. Construction of a manufacturing base in Hungary began in 2022, giving Inovance European production capacity.

Servo drives

Inovance’s current servo line-up is the SV600 family, all 220 V and 380 V class drives.

• The SV680 is the performance model: 0.2 to 5 kW on 220 V and 1 to 7.5 kW on 380–480 V, a 26-bit multi-turn absolute encoder (more than 67 million counts per revolution), 3.5 kHz speed loop bandwidth, and EtherCAT, PROFINET or pulse control. Functional safety versions add FSoE or PROFIsafe.
• The SV660N is the EtherCAT workhorse from 0.1 to 7.5 kW, with a 125 µs communication cycle, 20 ns synchronisation jitter, 23-bit encoders, up to 3 kHz speed loop bandwidth and SIL 3 STO. The SV660ND dual-axis drive packs two 0.4–0.75 kW axes into one unit on single-phase 230 V.
• The SV630 is the economy model, with pulse or EtherCAT control, 18-bit encoders and 2 kHz bandwidth.

The SV670 sits between SV680 and SV660, adding CANopen and CANlink to EtherCAT, PROFINET and pulse.

In practice the choice comes down to three questions. First, which network the machine controller uses: PROFINET points to SV680 or SV670, while a pure EtherCAT machine can use SV660N. Second, how much dynamic performance the axis needs: the higher bandwidth and 26-bit feedback of the SV680 pay off on short, fast moves and fine-pitch positioning, less so on conveyors. Third, whether functional safety beyond STO is required, which only the SV680 safety versions provide over the network. Servo motors

The MS1 servo motors run from 0.05 to 7.5 kW across six frame sizes, with speeds up to 7,000 rpm, a choice of 18-, 23- or 26-bit multi-turn encoders (including battery-less types), and ultra-low-inertia versions in some frames. See our servo and stepper motors hub for inertia matching guidance.

Motion controllers

Inovance’s AM522 motion controller is programmed in CODESYS to IEC 61131-3 with PLCopen axis blocks. It synchronises 16 EtherCAT axes (8 on the AM521), adds four pulse axes and, with an optional card, 30 CANopen point-to-point axes, and supports up to 127 EtherCAT slaves. It has eight 200 kHz high-speed inputs and four encoder inputs, and takes up to 16 GL20 local I/O modules. More on choosing a controller is on our motion controllers hub.

Technologies and standards

Inovance’s servo emphasis is on encoder resolution, loop bandwidth and EtherCAT CiA 402 behaviour, with STO to SIL 3 available across the range and advanced safety over FSoE or PROFIsafe on the SV680. The SV660N carries CE, UL and RoHS marks and EtherCAT conformance.
